Ayurvedic Yoga: Rejuvenative Dynamic Flow
What is Ayurvedic yoga? Ayurveda is an ancient system of natural medicine in order to enhance, vitality, longevity and consciousness. Ayurvedic yoga is traditional form of yoga based in Ayurveda that is specifically tailored for each individual based on their unique needs. This often includes one’s constitution (dosha), time of life, season of the year, diet, lifestyle and more. The sequence is then customized in order to move toward one’s most vital, rejuvenated self.
How does that work for a group class? Each class is linked, but customized to a certain degree, depending on who shows up for class and the energy of the group. Juliet incorporates a bit of everything she’s learned over the past 20 years including, Iyengar yoga, Sivananda yoga, hatha yoga, Qi gong, Vinyasa yoga, Bikram yoga, Reiki and Dahn Hak.
Is this class appropriate for me? A variety of standing, sitting, supine poses and inversions are incorporated. Pranayama, or breathing techniques, are also included during most classes. If you are comfortable moving from a standing position, to a seated position, to lying on the ground, this class will be a good fit. It is a moderately paced class. All levels are welcome. The most important component is the ability to maintain an awareness of your breath and listen to your body as this will ensure that you honor your personal limits in each moment. If your breath becomes strained then you know to gently back out of the pose until your body regains a sense of ease and you’re once again enjoying the experience. Ayurvedic Yoga is an all encompassing practice which is equally applicable for beginners and seasoned practitioners.
